Finally, an Accounting Company With an eCommerce Background.
There are a lot of accounting firms out there. You’ve probably talked to a few of them or even used their services in the past. But for some reason, you aren’t happy with them.
Why?
They just don’t understand your business.
Tall Oak Advisors not only understands your business, but we live and breathe eCommerce. It’s what we do.
Our founders are a very unique breed. They have eCommerce and financial backgrounds.
This gives you peace of mind that experts are helping guide your business forward.
Speaking of our founders, let’s meet them!
Who’s Behind Tall Oak Advisors?

Chris Potter
Hi! My name is Chris Potter, and I’m one of the founders of Tall Oak Advisors. I’m just like you – I started as a small eCommerce seller. I was watching a show on CNBC in 2005 about people selling stuff out of their garage on eBay. I thought – if those guys can do it, so can I!
By 2008 I had quit my full-time job, and become an eCommerce entrepreneur selling Halloween costumes and accessories.
Over the years, I’ve used many of the different sourcing models you are familiar with – retail arbitrage, online arbitrage, wholesale, dropship, and private label. I’ve sold products on many different website platforms including Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Rakuten, Shopify, Magento, and 3dCart. My largest business did over 8 figures in sales. To say the least – I know a LOT about eCommerce.
In 2020, I decided to make a change and exited my eCommerce businesses. I acquired two large-scale tax preparation businesses with seasoned partners from the eCommerce and financial industries. This scratched my itch for a change and was still in an industry I’ve been interested in since High School – finance and accounting.
I have been quoted in the best-selling book Profit First for Ecommerce Sellers, interviewed on multiple podcasts, and spoken at multiple eCommerce industry conferences.
Ryan Yaple
Hello! My name is Ryan Yaple. I am one of the co-founders of Tall Oak Advisors. I started selling online back in 2010 while in college. I was working for a company called RadioShack and one day noticed that you could make great profits by selling clearance speakers, radar detectors, and other electronics. I continued to sell online throughout my college years.
Finally, RadioShack went bankrupt(well, the first time!) and my brother and I made crazy money by going store to store and buying out their inventory. My experiences with working for RadioShack and connections with store managers allowed me to make the best out of a bad situation. After RadioShack’s bankruptcy, we asked ourselves what else we could sell.
Well……everyone eats!
Starting in 2015 we worked with manufacturers and distributors to purchase grocery products at wholesale profits and sell them on Amazon. We have been in the grocery and gourmet food category ever since.
While the business was growing I worked for one of the largest software providers in the tax and accounting industry, Thomson Reuters. The experience I gained over 3 years selling and supporting tax and accounting firms across the United States guided me to the opportunity to help e-commerce sellers. I left Thomson Reuters in early 2018 and have grown my business to over 8 figures of revenue annually. We are currently building a 30,000 square foot facility to accommodate the growth and expansion of my e-commerce business.

Our Story
Ryan and Chris met in 2015 through a Facebook group for Amazon Grocery Sellers. To their surprise, they discovered they had once lived near each other in Michigan!
Over the years, they bonded over a shared passion for eCommerce and financial strategy. They spent countless hours discussing how to make their businesses more profitable and scale to eight figures and beyond.
But one problem always stood out—most accountants and bookkeepers just didn’t understand the unique challenges of eCommerce.
With their combined backgrounds in accounting and experience running successful eCommerce businesses, Ryan and Chris knew they could fix this. But they didn’t want to just dive in—they wanted to do it right.
They needed the perfect combination of people, processes, and product (as Marcus Lemonis would say!).
In 2020, they took a big step by acquiring a seven-figure tax preparation business, bringing over 70 tax professionals, including CPAs and bookkeepers, into their team.
Since then, they’ve been perfecting their systems and services, all with one goal: to become the premier profit partner for eCommerce sellers.
From that vision, Tall Oak Advisors was born.
Since launching, Tall Oak Advisors has helped over 400 eCommerce sellers take control of their finances, maximize profitability, and thrive.
